New Forest Show Joins Forces with Hampshire Fare

The New Forest & Hampshire County Show has joined forces with county food group Hampshire Fare to promote the importance of food and farming in Hampshire by becoming a ‘Corporate Friend’.

The New Forest & Hampshire County Show is one of the top ten annual agricultural shows in the UK and this year is held on Tuesday July 26 to Thursday July 28 at New Park, Brockenhurst. The aims of the Society that runs the Show is to promote and support rural activities and help protect our rural heritage, providing this magnificent agricultural Show as a means to educate the public in an entertaining and interesting way. The Show celebrated 90 years in 2010 and continues to grow from strength to strength.
July also sees the month-long Hampshire Food Festival, organized by Hampshire Fare, with over 90 different events celebrating local food and farming. Hampshire Fare celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2011 and represents around 200 local producers and businesses that sell, serve or educate about local produce. So this is an ideal partnership.

Show Secretary Denis Dooley said: "The New Forest & Hampshire County Show is delighted to become a Corporate Friend of Hampshire Fare and sees it as the start of a long lasting relationship. One of our main objectives is to help the local economy and become part of the community and I see this as a major stepping stone in achieving this. The success of Hampshire Fare is imperative in helping local farmers and producers and we will be doing our utmost to make sure they achieve this."

Hampshire Fare Chairman Mike Wright agreed: "Hampshire is fortunate to have so many food and drink producers who are passionate about the quality of their products. High profile events like the New Forest & Hampshire County Show and the Hampshire Food Festival show visitors how important the rural food and farming economy is to the county".

The New Forest & Hampshire County Show attracts, on average, 95,000 visitors every year and brings together a celebration of traditional country pursuits, crafts, produce and entertainment, estimated to bring around £15 million into the local economy.

Welcome to our new blog!!

The aim of this page is to allow our visitors to see how the Show is progressing throughout the year.

The New Forest and Hampshire County Show is a three day agricultural Show held normally during the last Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in July; this year the dates are 26th 27th and 28th July. On average the event attracts 90,000 people over the three days.

The Show is split into sections ranging from Sheep to Flowers and Cattle to Antiques. Each one of these sections brings a different dimension to the Show and allows our visitors the chance to experience a diverse range of attractions throughout their time on the showground. Every section is run by a chairman, a vice chairman and a committee of dedicated volunteers who give up their free time to make sure that your visit is packed with excitement.

To complete your day out we have over 600 tradestands which sell everything from clothes to garden furniture and horse equipment to cars. These tradestands offer great offers to the public and helps to create the most diverse shopping centre in the county.

The centre piece of the Show is the main ring, here we offer a variety of attractions for our visitors, from international show jumping, to the heavy horse musical drive and from fly fishing demonstrations to in 2011 Jamie Squibb and his amazing motorbike display.

Throughout the year we are aiming to post regular reports on how we are getting on with the organisation and build up of the Show and also try to give readers an idea of the amount of work which goes into creating and event of our size. We will be regularly uploading a selection of photos to give you an idea of where we are and what each section has been up to.

The New Forest and Hampshire County Show is a public event and we are always grateful to receive any comments or thoughts on how we could improve our flagship event, therefore should you be able to offer any ideas on this then please do not hesitate to contact the office on 01590 622400 or by emailing us at info@newforestshow.co.uk

Finally the New Forest & Hampshire County Show helps raise funds to support the New Forest Agricultural Show Society and other local and national charitable organisations.  The New Forest Agricultural Show Society is a private company limited by guarantee.

Look forward to seeing you again soon!
